Franz Biberkopf was a criminal in Berlin back in the 1920s, but he wasn't just any criminal. After getting out of prison, he vowed to himself that he was going to go straight. However, the criminal underworld of Berlin had different ideas about his plans. Not long after he is released, he finds that he has once again got himself caught up in the midst of other criminals.
