Watch Before the Rain

This drama is a 1994 movie filmed entirely on location in Macedonia, with a European cast. It's an amalgamation of three stories, focusing on ill-fated and sad love events. Kiril is a monk who befriends Zamira, a young girl accused of murder. The two of them leave off for the countryside together, but their union faces a bitter ending.

Anne, a London photographer, is torn between the love of her husband Nick and Aleksandar, a fellow photographer, to disastrous results. Finally, in the third story, known as Pictures, the previous two stories are brought together. Aleksandar returns to Macedonia to live. Hana, a former love interest, asks Aleksandar to care for her daughter Zamira. The movie flashbacks to London, where Anne is developing pictures of a dead Zamira, killed in the Macedonian civil war.
