This drama is based on the life of openly gay Cuban artist and poet Reinaldo Arenas. Havana is an exciting place for the young man to explore his creative talents as well as his sexuality. But as the political climate in the country changes, Arenas is arrested for alleged sexual assault as well as for publishing his works outside of Cuba without government consent. After several stints in prison, he manages to escape with his lover to the U.S., only to face the new challenge of AIDS.
