Battle of the Year is a 2013 American B-boy dance film that follows a group of misfit dancers on their journey to win an international breakdancing competition known as the Battle of the Year. The film stars Josh Holloway, Laz Alonso, Josh Peck, and Chris Brown, among others. Directed by Benson Lee, Battle of the Year tells the story of a once-popular American breakdancing coach named Jason Blake (Josh Holloway) who was hired to create a new team to compete in the Battle of the Year. After losing his family in a car accident, Jason struggled with alcoholism and depression, which he tried to numb with pills and alcohol. When Dante (Laz Alonso), a hip hop mogul, offers Jason a chance to coach the American team, he hesitantly accepts the job, seeing it as a last chance to redeem himself.

Jason quickly realizes that the Battle of the Year is no longer an American-dominated competition, as many countries have adopted breakdancing as their own cultural phenomenon. He quickly learns that he needs to put together a team of the best B-boys in America if he wants to stand a chance of winning.

To achieve this, Jason rounds up the best B-boys in the country, including Rooster (Chris Brown), a formerly incarcerated dancer with a gifted talent, and Franklyn (Josh Peck), a video game designer. Despite initial resistance, the team eventually comes together and begins to train and choreograph to compete in the competition.

Their journey takes them across America, from Las Vegas to New Orleans, as they perfect their moves and performance. Jason quickly discovers that the team needs more than just their natural talent to succeed; they need a sense of unity and brotherhood to become a real team.

As the team prepares for their performance, they receive news that the Korean team, who have won the Battle of the Year for the past decade, have created a new routine that has blown everyone away. Faced with a daunting task, the American team sets out to create a similarly impressive routine utilizing their unity and passion for dance.

As they prepare for the competition, the struggles of the team members are revealed, including Rooster's struggles with his own demons, and Jason's guilt over his involvement in his family's death. Throughout the movie, there are also some great dance scenes as the team hones their skills and develops their emotional bond.

In the end, Battle of the Year showcases impressive dance moves and great music, along with some wonderful acting from the cast. It is a heartwarming story of brotherhood, teamwork and redemption that will leave audiences feeling inspired and motivated.
