In Battle for Terra, directed by Aristomenis Tsirbas, humans are the invaders and the alien race of Terrans are the ones fighting to protect their home planet. The movie is set in a futuristic world where Earth has become uninhabitable and humans have been forced to look for new worlds to colonize. When they arrive at Terra, an earth-like planet, they begin to mine for resources and set up their new home. However, the Terrans are not willing to let the human invasion go unchallenged.

The story follows Mala (Evan Rachel Wood), a brave and determined young Terran who becomes involved in the fight against the humans. Mala has always been curious about the humans and their technology, but when she comes face to face with one of them, a pilot named Jim Stanton (Luke Wilson), she begins to question her own beliefs about her people and the war.

The humans, led by their commander General Hemmer (Brian Cox), are determined to wipe out the Terrans and take over their planet. They believe that the Terrans are a primitive species who do not deserve to have their own planet. However, Jim Stanton begins to see things from a different perspective after he crashes his ship on Terra and is saved by Mala. He realizes that the Terrans are just as intelligent and resourceful as humans, and that they deserve to have their own planet.

The movie raises important questions about colonization, imperialism, and the ethics of war. It shows how easily people can fall into a "us versus them" mentality, and how difficult it can be to see things from another perspective. The Terrans and the humans both have their own reasons for fighting, but as the movie progresses, we begin to see that there may be a way for them to coexist peacefully.

One of the most striking things about Battle for Terra is the animation. The movie was created entirely in 3D animation, and the result is a visually stunning world that is both beautiful and terrifying. The planet Terra is full of colorful landscapes and strange creatures, but it is also a place of danger and uncertainty.

The voice acting in Battle for Terra is also excellent. Evan Rachel Wood brings a depth and nuance to the character of Mala, and Luke Wilson imbues Jim Stanton with a sense of empathy and compassion that makes him a sympathetic character. Justin Long also provides comic relief as Giddy, one of Jim's fellow pilots who finds himself in over his head on Terra.

Overall, Battle for Terra is a thought-provoking and visually stunning movie that is sure to appeal to both children and adults. It is a rare example of a children's movie that tackles complex themes and doesn't talk down to its audience. It is a movie that asks important questions about war, violence, and the importance of understanding different perspectives.

Battle for Terra is a 2007 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.5 and a MetaScore of 54.
