Back to You and Me is a heartwarming romantic drama released in 2005, directed by David S. Cass Sr., and starring Lisa Hartman, Dale Midkiff, and Rue McClanahan. The movie chronicles the story of Sydney (Lisa Hartman), a successful surgeon living in Chicago who returns to her hometown of Bloomfield, Iowa, following her mother's death to help her father (Ken Pogue) go through his wife's possessions.

While back in Bloomfield, Sydney reunites with her best friend, now the town's doctor, Gina (Rue McClanahan). Gina insists on Sydney attending the annual fair organized to raise charity for the township's hospital. In an effort to reconnect with her hometown, Sydney agrees and is eventually convinced to judge the pie eating competition. This is where she meets Bronson (Dale Midkiff), an old classmate who is now working as a farmer.

Even though their lives have taken drastically different turns, their connection is still strong. As Sydney and Bronson spend more time together, they realize that the feelings they had for each other back in high school never really went away.

As the movie progresses, we watch Sydney struggle to come to terms with her past, her dreams, and her feelings for Bronson. Hesitant to get too involved with him, Sydney keeps her distance until she is driven by the need to stand up for what's right, exposing a scandal in the community.

The story is filled with charming moments and is an excellent example of how reconnecting with our roots can help us find ourselves once again. The film captures the essence of small-town life and is an ode to the tranquillity and peace that comes from a life free of the fast-paced life of the city.

The performances in the film are exceptional. Lisa Hartman shines as Sydney, delivering a superb performance as a successful doctor, struggling to come to terms with her past and her present. Dale Midkiff delivers an impressive performance as Bronson, Sydney's old flame, who has spent his life working hard to maintain his family farm. Rue McClanahan, who plays Gina, delivers a lively performance as Sydney's best friend, who wants nothing but the best for Sydney.

Back to You and Me is a well-rounded film that tells a compelling story about love, family, and the importance of reconnecting with our roots. The film is beautifully shot, with stunning visuals of the small-town surroundings that enhance the overall charm of the movie.

Moreover, the film is a sincere portrayal of the difficulties that arise when one has to choose between the life they have built for themselves and the life they were meant to lead. It speaks to the challenges that arise when we pursue a life we think we want only to realize that what we need is something entirely different.

All in all, Back to You and Me is a lovely film that touches the soul. The simple joys and familiarities of small-town life, coupled with the struggles of navigating life's complexities, make the movie a must-watch. If you're in the mood for an uplifting, feel-good movie that celebrates love, family, and the beauty of life's small pleasures, Back to You and Me is an excellent choice.
