Baadshaho is a 2017 Indian action thriller film directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Milan Luthria. The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz, Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Sanjay Mishra and Vidyut Jammwal in prominent roles. The movie is set in the 1975 emergency period in India and revolves around a heist of gold being transported from one state to another. Baadshaho brings together a gang of thieves led by Ajay Devgn's character Bhawani Singh, who set out to steal the gold from a convoy that is being transported through Rajastan.
The story of Baadshaho begins with the newly elected Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, imposing a state of emergency in the country. This leads to the government seizing all the wealth and valuables from the royals of Rajasthan. However, a royal family still manages to hold on to their gold and hide it from the government's prying eyes.
Cut to the present day, where the same family descendants are facing a tough time as their gold is being hunted down by the government. Thus, they ask the help of Bhawani Singh, who is a trusted aide of the royal family and a no-nonsense man with a plan. With the help of his team, Bhawani devises a plan to steal the gold before the government can get hold of it.
Along with Bhawani, there are a few other members on the team, including an army man, Dalia (Emraan Hashmi), who is skilled in hand-to-hand combat, a lock-picker named Tikla (Sanjay Mishra), and a daredevil girl, Sanjana (Esha Gupta), who brings in the glamour quotient. Ileana D'Cruz's character Gitanjali, a close friend of the royal family, also plays an important role in the mission. The team makes use of every trick up their sleeves to outsmart the government's army and police officers and comes closer to their goal.
The story of Baadshaho is well-written, and the characters have depth, which makes the movie entertaining to watch. The narrative revolves around the themes of royalty, power, betrayal and patriotism, while also seamlessly blending in romance, drama and action. The bond between the members of the gang is shown to be strong, and their humour and camaraderie have been executed quite well. The action sequences are brilliantly choreographed and add to the thrill factor of the movie.
The performances of the lead actors are noteworthy. Ajay Devgn, as Bhawani Singh, is exceptional as always, and his character portrayal is outstanding. Emraan Hashmi, who plays Dalia, also delivers a good performance, with his portrayal of a brave soldier who will do anything to protect his team. Ileana D'Cruz brings in the emotional angle to the movie, and her chemistry with Ajay Devgn is palpable. Esha Gupta, who plays Sanjana, impresses with her grit, while Sanjay Mishra's Tikla adds comic relief to the otherwise serious story.
The music of Baadshaho is composed by Ankit Tiwari, Tanishk Bagchi, and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The iconic song âMere Rashke Qamarâ has been recreated, and its music video features Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz. The song instantly became a hit with the audiences and became one of the most popular tracks to emerge from the movie.
Baadshaho is an engaging and entertaining watch, with a well-crafted story and commendable performances from the cast. It's a movie that combines style, substance and drama in equal measure, and the end result is a visual delight. Luthria has done a good job of depicting the royalty and the era of the 70s. The film's pacing is well-maintained, and it never drags even in its more serious and introspective moments. Overall, Baadshaho is a movie that will appeal to everyone - not just action movie buffs - and is definitely worth a watch.
