Ayaash is a 1982 Bollywood movie directed by Shakti Samanta starring Sanjeev Kumar, Rati Agnihotri, and Arun Govil in leading roles. The movie explores the themes of love, relationships, and morality set against a backdrop of a changing society. The story revolves around a wealthy businessman, Rajan (Sanjeev Kumar), who meets and falls in love with a working-class girl, Bindiya (Rati Agnihotri) during a train journey. Bindiya is unaware of Rajan's wealth and status, and love blossoms between the two irrespective of their backgrounds. The two get married and start their life together, but Rajan's sister-in-law, Sonu (Bindiya's sister), is not happy with the match and creates a rift between them.
As time passes, Rajan's business starts to suffer, and he resorts to unfair and unethical means to save it, putting a strain on their marriage. Bindiya, who values morality and honesty, is unable to accept her husband's actions and confronts him. This leads to a conflict between the couple, and eventually, they separate.
However, fate brings them together when Rajan's past catches up with him, and he ends up embroiled in a criminal case. Bindiya comes to his rescue, and the two reconcile their differences, with Rajan realizing the importance of honesty and integrity.
Apart from the lead actors, the movie boasts of an excellent cast, including Sujit Kumar, Preeti Ganguli, and Asrani, who deliver memorable performances. The music also plays a significant role in the movie, with legendary singer Kishore Kumar providing soulful melodies that tug at the heartstrings.
Ayaash, while being a love story at its core, also serves as a commentary on the changing Indian society of the 1980s, where class differences were slowly blurring, and people were becoming more accepting of love beyond social barriers. The movie also showcases the values of honesty and morality that are fundamental to a successful life.
Overall, Ayaash is a timeless classic that showcases the best of Bollywood. With exceptional performances, poignant storytelling, and soul-stirring music, it continues to charm audiences even today.
