After waking up in the middle of the woods with no memory of how they got there, a group of strangers find themselves being hunted by a group of masked murderers. As they try to survive the night, tensions rise, secrets are revealed, and they begin to realize that their abduction may not have been random. One of the main characters is Bruno, played by Jason London. Bruno is a successful businessman who seems to have it all, but has a dark past that he's trying to keep hidden. Darlene Tejeiro plays Jaimie, a tough and resourceful woman who quickly takes charge of the group. Andrea Bogart plays Melinda, a mysterious woman who seems to know more about their situation than she's letting on.
As the group tries to figure out a plan for surviving the night, they come across several empty cabins in the woods. They decide to split up and take refuge in the cabins, hoping that they'll be safe from their attackers. Of course, things don't go as planned, and they soon realize that the cabins aren't as deserted as they thought.
The masked murderers are led by a man named Red, who seems to have a personal vendetta against the group. As the night wears on, they discover that their abduction may be related to a crime they all committed in their past. As they try to stay alive, they also try to piece together what happened to them and why they're being targeted.
One of the strengths of Axe is its tense and suspenseful atmosphere. The movie does a great job of creating a sense of dread and paranoia, as the group never knows when or where their attackers will strike. The cinematography is also impressive, making great use of the creepy, isolated setting to ramp up the tension.
The performances are generally solid across the board, with Darlene Tejeiro standing out as the no-nonsense Jaimie. Jason London is also good as Bruno, portraying a character who's deeply flawed but also sympathetic. Andrea Bogart's character is a bit more enigmatic, but she does a good job of keeping the audience guessing about her motives.
The movie does have a few flaws, however. Some of the dialogue is a bit clunky, and some of the character actions are a bit questionable. There are also a few plot holes that may leave some viewers scratching their heads. That being said, the overall experience of watching Axe is still a satisfying one, particularly for fans of horror/slasher movies.
Overall, Axe is a solid entry in the horror/slasher genre. While it may not reinvent the wheel, it's an effectively creepy and suspenseful movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The strong performances and impressive cinematography help elevate the material, even if it's not perfect. If you're looking for a scary movie to watch with a group of friends, Axe is definitely worth checking out.
