Awful Nice is a 2013 independent comedy film directed by Todd Sklar. The movie stars Brett Gelman, Christopher Meloni, and Zahn McClarnon. The plot revolves around two estranged brothers who come together after their father's death to sell their family home in Branson, Missouri. The two brothers, Jim (Brett Gelman) and Dave (Christopher Meloni), have been estranged for many years. Jim is a successful businessman, married with children, and living in California. Dave, on the other hand, is an irresponsible party animal who lives in a small apartment in New York City. They have not spoken to each other in years but their father's death forces them to come together to dispose of the family home in Branson.

When they reach Branson, the two brothers find out that their father had not only neglected the home but also managed to accrue a substantial amount of debt in the process. The brothers find themselves in a tight spot, but instead of giving up, they decide to renovate the house and sell it for a profit.

Things quickly spiral out of control when Jim and Dave start to butt heads over how to handle the renovation of the house. Jim wants to make the house more presentable while Dave wants to turn the home into a wild party house. The two brothers argue and fight, leading to a series of hijinks and silly shenanigans.

As the two brothers work reluctantly together, they meet some of the colorful characters in Branson, including the real estate agent, the town drunk, and a Native American construction worker, Kristopher (Zahn McClarnon), who takes the brothers under his wing. Along the way, Dave discovers some shocking secrets about their father that threaten to throw a monkey wrench in their plans.

Throughout the movie, the characters are quirky and over-the-top, but they never cross the line into caricature territory. The humor is irreverent, and the jokes come at you fast and furious. The dialogue is witty and sharp, and the performances by Gelman and Meloni are top-notch. They have excellent chemistry with each other, and their bickering and banter are a highlight of the movie.

The film's cinematography is beautiful, with picturesque shots of Branson's scenic countryside. The soundtrack is upbeat and fun, and the movie's pacing is swift, never lingering on any scene for too long.

One of the strengths of Awful Nice is its ability to walk a fine line between a screwball comedy and a touching family drama. The movie is not just a bunch of silly gags and slapstick humor, but it also deals with issues of family, friendship, and fatherhood.

Overall, Awful Nice is a raucous, hilarious, and heartwarming movie that will leave you smiling from ear to ear. The film is a testament to the power of brotherhood and the resilience of the human spirit. If you want to watch a movie that will make you laugh out loud while tugging at your heartstrings, then Awful Nice is the movie for you.
