Ator, The Fighting Eagle is a 1982 sword and sorcery film directed by Joe D'Amato and starring Miles O'Keeffe as Ator. The movie follows the story of Ator and his quest to save his people from the evil spider-worshipping sorcerer, The High Priest of The Spider. At the beginning of the movie, Ator's family is killed by The High Priest of The Spider's minions. Years later, Ator has become a great warrior and is asked by the Emissary of The Great Akka to find the magical Crystal Key in order to defeat The High Priest of The Spider. Ator sets out on his journey accompanied by his loyal sidekick, Thong (played by Sabrina Siani) and the Emissary's daughter, Sunya (played by Ritza Brown).
The Crystal Key is protected by three obstacles: A giant spider, a group of barbarians, and a vicious creature known as the "Iron Rider." Ator and his companions successfully overcome all of these obstacles, but not without suffering some casualties. Along the way, Ator and Sunya fall in love, but their happiness is short-lived as they are separated during their final battle against The High Priest of The Spider.
The final battle takes place at The High Priest of The Spider's lair, where Ator must face not only The High Priest of The Spider but also his army of minions. Ator is determined to avenge his family's death and save his people from The High Priest of The Spider's tyranny. The battle is intense, and not everyone makes it out alive.
The movie is full of action and adventure, with plenty of sword fights and battles with fantastic creatures. The cinematography is impressive, and the soundtrack by Carlo Maria Cordio sets the mood perfectly for each scene. The movie also makes good use of practical effects, such as the giant spider and Iron Rider, which add to the overall aesthetic appeal of the film.
One of the standout performances in the movie is Miles O'Keeffe as Ator. He is convincing as a brave and skilled warrior, and his commitment to the role is evident in his physical performance. Sabrina Siani as Thong provides some comic relief and adds to the overall adventurous spirit of the film. Ritza Brown also delivers a strong portrayal of Sunya, giving her character depth and complexity.
Ator, The Fighting Eagle serves as a nostalgic reminder of the popular sword and sorcery films of the 80s. While it may not be the most cinematic masterpiece, it is an enjoyable and action-packed adventure that will appeal to lovers of the genre. The movie has since gained a cult following and is seen as a classic in its own right.
Ator, The Fighting Eagle is a 1982 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.3.
