Asylum Seekers is a quirky comedy-drama film that was released in 2009. The movie follows the lives of six individuals who are on the brink of insanity and have all checked themselves into a mental institution in the hopes of receiving asylum for their individual issues. The film's central plot revolves around the group's attempt to leave the asylum to start a new life in a far-off destination.

The film's characters are all quite interesting and somewhat offbeat, each with their own unique quirks and issues. There's Agnes (Pepper Binkley), a young woman who's convinced she's a famous chef and who spends her days in the institution's kitchen whipping up imaginary feasts. There's also George (Bill Dawes), a man who's obsessed with cleanliness and who spends hours every day scrubbing himself and his surroundings.

Other characters include Lloyd (Judy Dennis Hawking), a woman who's convinced she's pregnant despite being past child-bearing age, and Harry (Daniel Irizarry), a man who's constantly paranoid and convinced that the staff at the institution are out to get him. Rounding out the group are Billy (Starr Kendall), a man who's constantly angry and violent, and Jermaine (Daniel Sauli), a man who's convinced that he's a rapper and spends most of his time penning lyrics.

Their attempts to escape the institution are often hilarious, and the group's chemistry is a joy to watch. The asylum setting also serves as a great backdrop for exploring the characters' mental states, and the film's use of humor helps to soften what could have otherwise been a very heavy subject.

One of the most interesting aspects of the film is the way it was shot. There are numerous long takes, some lasting as long as 10 or 15 minutes, which give the audience a sense of being a part of the action. The cinematography is also creative, with several scenes shot from the perspective of the characters, with the camera positioned at eye-level.

Overall, Asylum Seekers is a quirky and charming film that manages to tackle serious subject matter in a lighthearted and humorous way. The characters are all interesting and well-drawn, and the film's visuals are beautifully presented. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a movie that's a bit off the beaten track.

Asylum Seekers is a 2009 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.4.
