Assassination of a High School President is a 2008 satirical comedy-drama film directed by Brett Simon, starring Reece Thompson, Mischa Barton, and Bruce Willis. The film is set in a prestigious Catholic high school, where corruption and power struggles reign supreme. The story is centered around a student named Bobby Funke (Reece Thompson), a brilliant but socially awkward and ineffective sophomore who writes for the school paper. He is assigned to investigate the theft of the school's SATs, and in the process, he uncovers a web of deceit and corruption that goes all the way to the top of the school's administration.

Bobby's investigation leads him to cross paths with the popular and manipulative senior editor of the school paper, Paul Moore (Patrick Taylor). Paul convinces Bobby to help him uncover the identity of the thief, promising him a spot on the varsity team and a chance to win the heart of Francesca (Mischa Barton), the school's most beautiful and unattainable girl.

Bobby's investigation eventually leads him to the realization that the school's student council president, a boy named Marlon Piazza (Luke Grimes), is responsible for the theft. However, Bobby's discovery puts him in grave danger, as Marlon and his cronies are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their secrets hidden.

Amidst this chaos, Bruce Willis enters the scene as a hard-boiled private detective named Dale, who is hired by Bobby to help him solve the case. Together, Bobby and Dale uncover a conspiracy that involves not only the school's corrupt administration, but also the Catholic Church and the Mafia.

Assassination of a High School President is a clever and witty take on the high school movie genre. It is full of sharp dialogue and memorable characters, all played with a sense of humor and irony that is rarely seen in films aimed at teenagers.

Reece Thompson delivers a standout performance as Bobby Funke, a kind of anti-hero who is both sympathetic and hilarious. Mischa Barton is also great as the object of Bobby's affection, playing the part of the attractive and unattainable girl with just the right amount of vulnerability and attitude.

But perhaps the most surprising and delightful performance comes from Bruce Willis, who seems to be having the time of his life playing the grizzled private detective with a love for bourbon and a disregard for authority. Willis brings a cool and charismatic presence to the film that elevates the entire production.

Assassination of a High School President is a film that manages to be both silly and smart, raunchy and heartfelt. It takes aim at the hypocrisy of Catholic school culture and American obsession with standardized testing, while at the same time providing a thrilling and entertaining ride. If you're in the mood for a film that doesn't take itself too seriously but still manages to deliver a message, Assassination of a High School President is definitely worth checking out.

Assassination of a High School President is a 2008 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 33 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.2.
