Aspen Extreme is a 1993 coming-of-age drama film directed by Patrick Hasburgh. Set in Colorado's upscale ski resort town of Aspen, the film follows two best friends, TJ Burke (Paul Gross) and Dexter Rutecki (Peter Berg), who both aspire to become professional skiers. TJ is a calm, responsible and serious-minded person, who has just moved to Aspen to start a new job as a ski instructor. He is determined to make a career out of skiing, but also has his sights set on a woman he met on the plane to Aspen, a beautiful blonde named Robin (Finola Hughes). Dexter, on the other hand, is a wild and reckless character, who dreams of becoming a skiing superstar and making a name for himself.
The two friends soon find work at the same ski resort, where they meet a group of wealthy and glamorous locals who introduce them to the high-flying lifestyle of Aspen. The group includes Bryce (Teri Polo), a beautiful socialite who takes a liking to TJ, and Silas (William Russ), a former Olympic gold medalist who takes Dexter under his wing and helps him improve his skiing skills.
As TJ and Dexter immerse themselves in the Aspen lifestyle, they begin to drift apart. Dexter's reckless behavior and partying habits start to take a toll on their friendship, and TJ begins to question whether his dreams of becoming a professional skier are worth the sacrifices he is making.
As the winter season comes to a close, TJ and Dexter are faced with some tough decisions about their future. TJ must choose between his love for Robin and his career aspirations, while Dexter faces a life-changing opportunity to turn his skiing dreams into a reality.
Aspen Extreme is a visually stunning film, with breathtaking footage of skiing and snowboarding from start to finish. The film's soundtrack is also noteworthy, featuring classic rock tunes from the likes of Van Halen, Guns N' Roses, and U2.
