Arctic Heart is a 2016 French romantic drama film directed by Xavier Legrand, starring Charlotte Le Bon, Guillaume Canet, and Anne Le Ny. The movie tells the story of three characters who are all battling their personal demons and how they cross paths on their individual journeys. Jacques (Guillaume Canet) is an accomplished French doctor who is deeply troubled. He has recently lost his wife and is struggling to connect with his teenage son, Thomas. Jacques decides to take a break from his life and sets off to the Arctic, where he plans on spending time taking care of a small clinic.

During his stay in the Arctic, Jacques meets a young woman named Louisa (Charlotte Le Bon). Louisa has come to the Arctic to escape her past and start anew. She works in the local factory but dreams of a life beyond the harsh confines of the Arctic.

As Jacques and Louisa spend more time together, they begin to develop feelings for one another, but their happiness is short-lived. Louisa's ex-boyfriend, a violent man named Niki, shows up in the Arctic looking for her. Jacques, determined to protect Louisa, takes matters into his own hands, which leads to a dangerous confrontation.

Meanwhile, Jacques' son Thomas, played by Damien Chapelle, is back in France and struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother. He also has a strained relationship with his father and feels abandoned. Thomas becomes fixated on uncovering the truth behind his mother's death, which leads him down a dangerous path.

The three storylines converge in the final act of the film, as Jacques, Louisa, and Thomas find themselves facing their fears and dealing with the past. The Arctic becomes a metaphor for the emotional landscape that the characters must navigate, as they try to find a way forward.

The film is beautifully shot, with stunning landscapes of the Arctic adding to the sense of isolation and despair that the characters feel. The performances of the three leads are outstanding, particularly that of Charlotte Le Bon, who brings sensitivity and depth to the character of Louisa.

Arctic Heart explores themes of grief, loss, and the search for redemption. It is a poignant and moving film that will leave a lasting impression on viewers.
