A romantic musical from India, Arathana shows how pure love has the power to change people. Puliraju lives in a small seaside village. He never learned how to read, likes to get drunk, and is a constant menace to everyone around. But then a new young schoolteacher arrives at a local school, and draws his complete interest. For the first time in his life, he starts to look objectively at himself and decides to change for the better. As she teaches him to read, he falls in love with her.
