Anastasia is a 1997 animated musical drama film produced by 20th Century Fox Animation and directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. The movie follows the story of Anastasia Romanov, daughter of Nicholas Romanov, the last Tsar of Russia, who was rumored to have survived the massacre. The film features an ensemble cast of voice actors, including Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Christopher Lloyd, Hank Azaria, and Bernadette Peters.

The movie begins with a prologue that sets the stage for the story. It is 1916, and the people of Russia are celebrating 300 years of Romanov rule. Anastasia, the youngest daughter of the Tsar, is a joyful and adventurous little girl who is loved by her family and the people of Russia. However, the joyous celebration is interrupted by the arrival of Rasputin, an evil sorcerer who seeks revenge on the Romanovs. In a fierce battle, Rasputin is defeated by the royal family, but he curses them before he dies.

The story then jumps ahead to 1917, during the Russian Revolution. Anastasia and her family are captured by the Bolsheviks and taken to a remote location. In a shocking twist, the entire Romanov family is executed by the Bolsheviks, but Anastasia is somehow separated from her family and disappears into the chaos of the Revolution.

The movie then fast-forwards to 10 years later. Anastasia's grandmother, the Dowager Empress, is still alive and living in Paris. Dimitri, a former nobleman who now works as a con artist, becomes convinced that he can find Anastasia and claim the reward offered by the Dowager Empress for her safe return. He enlists the help of his friend Vlad, a former member of the Romanov court. Together, Dimitri and Vlad set out to find a girl who can pass as Anastasia and convince the Dowager Empress that she is the real thing.

Enter Anya, a young orphan who has lost her memory and is struggling to find her place in the world. Dimitri and Vlad recognize that Anya is a dead ringer for Anastasia, and they convince her to come with them to Paris and pretend to be Anastasia. Anya is reluctant at first, but she soon realizes that she might be the real Anastasia when she begins to have flashbacks of her past.

The rest of the movie follows Anya's journey as she tries to discover who she really is and reunite with her family. Along the way, she falls in love with Dimitri and they face dangers and obstacles as they make their way to Paris. Meanwhile, Rasputin has returned from the dead, still bent on revenge, and he is determined to thwart Anya's plans.

Anastasia is a beautifully animated movie with stunning visuals and a gripping storyline. The music is also a highlight, featuring original songs by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, as well as a rendition of the classic song "Once Upon a December". The performances by the voice actors are also outstanding, particularly Meg Ryan as Anya/Anastasia and Christopher Lloyd as Rasputin.

Overall, Anastasia is a heartwarming and entertaining movie that is perfect for all ages. It is a story of courage, perseverance, and love, and it will captivate audiences from beginning to end. Whether you are a fan of animated movies or not, Anastasia is definitely worth watching.
