After the death of his father, a city boy named Jack moves to his father's farm in rural America in order to inherit the land. Jack quickly realizes that life on the farm is not as easy as he thought it would be, especially with the constant threat of coyotes and other predators lurking nearby. When Jack learns about a local superstition that claims that the crops are being destroyed by a malevolent spirit known as the American Scarecrow, he dismisses the idea as nothing more than a myth. However, as strange occurrences begin to happen around the farm, Jack starts to believe that there may be some truth to the legend.
