Watch American Mummy

In the movie American Mummy, a group of graduate students embark on an archaeological dig in the deserts of New Mexico. Led by their professor, Dr. Abel Trelawny (played by Aidan Bristow), the group hopes to uncover an ancient tomb that is said to contain the remains of a powerful Mayan sorcerer. As they begin their excavation, the students discover that Trelawny has an ulterior motive for the dig - he hopes to use the sorcerer's power to resurrect his dead wife. However, in order to do so, he must sacrifice each of the students, one by one, to the mummy that guards the tomb.

The group begins to unravel as they realize the danger they are in, but it may be too late to escape the mummy's wrath.

The film follows the standard horror plot formula, with each of the students being picked off in gruesome ways as they try to survive. However, there are a few standout moments, including a scene in which one character must face an army of mummified warriors.

The film also features impressive practical effects work, with the mummy itself being a gruesome and terrifying creature. The filmmakers clearly had a lot of fun designing the various traps and obstacles that the students must overcome in the tomb.

Suziey Block delivers a strong performance as lead student Susan, who becomes increasingly suspicious of Trelawny's intentions as the dig progresses. She anchors the film and gives the audience someone to root for amidst the chaos.

Despite its flaws, American Mummy is an entertaining ride for horror fans. It delivers on the gore and scares, and its unique Mayan setting sets it apart from other horror films.
