American Bigfoot is a 2017 horror film that tells the story of three friends who set out into the woods to find evidence of the elusive creature known as Bigfoot. The film stars Zach Galligan as Jim, Johnny Lechner as Eric, and Jamie Bozian as Brian. Jim, Eric, and Brian are lifelong friends who share a fascination with the legend of Bigfoot. When they hear reports of sightings in a nearby forest, they decide to take a weekend camping trip and search for evidence of the creature themselves. As they venture deeper into the woods, they begin to experience strange occurrences and unexplained phenomena.

The trio sets up camp and begins their investigation, using equipment such as thermal imaging cameras and audio recording devices to capture any evidence of Bigfoot's existence. However, their search quickly turns into a nightmare when they encounter something beyond their wildest dreams - and nightmares.

The film does an excellent job of building tension and maintaining a sense of foreboding throughout. The shots of the dense forest, the ominous soundtrack, and the eerie sounds that echo through the woods all contribute to a sense of unease that never lets up.

The characters are well-defined and likable, which makes it all the more disturbing when their situation spirals out of control. Zach Galligan gives a great performance as the more skeptical and cautious of the group, while Johnny Lechner is amusing as the brash and impulsive Eric. Jamie Bozian provides the heart of the film as the most enthusiastic of the three about Bigfoot and the one who pushes them further into the woods.

One of the film's strengths is the way it plays with the audience's expectations. From the outset, we know we're watching a horror movie about Bigfoot, so we go in expecting certain things: jump scares, gore, and so on. But American Bigfoot subverts those expectations in some surprising ways. The filmmakers have clearly put thought into how to make this a unique and gripping horror experience.

The creature design is particularly impressive. Instead of going for a straightforward, Chewbacca-like look, the filmmakers have opted for something more unsettling and monstrous. The Bigfoot of American Bigfoot is an imposing, frightening figure that seems to be part animal and part demon. The use of practical effects (as opposed to CGI) makes the creature feel more real and tangible, adding to the film's overall sense of dread.

While there aren't many moments of outright terror, there are plenty of creepy and unsettling scenes. The film expertly uses sound and lighting to create an atmosphere of dread, and there are several scenes that will give viewers chills. There's also a sense of mystery that runs throughout the film - we're never quite sure what the characters are going to discover in the next moment.

All in all, American Bigfoot is a well-made and effective horror film. It's not particularly revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it's a solid entry in the Bigfoot horror subgenre. The characters are likable, the creature design is top-notch, and the tension never lets up. Fans of horror movies and cryptozoology will find plenty to enjoy in this film.
