All Dogs Go to Heaven is an animated musical fantasy film released in 1989. In his quest to stop Carface, Charlie is killed (off-screen) and is sent to heaven where he discovers that dogs are not allowed in. However, with the help of a kindly angel named Annabelle (voiced by Loni Anderson), he is granted an opportunity to return to Earth in order to avenge his lost life and redeem himself for his past misdeeds.

When Charlie returns to Earth, he meets a young orphan girl named Anne-Marie (voiced by Judith Barsi) who has the ability to speak with animals. Charlie tries to manipulate her into helping him with his revenge scheme, but eventually grows fond of her and becomes determined to protect her from harm despite the risks involved.

Throughout the film, Charlie learns valuable lessons about honesty, loyalty, and the importance of unconditional love. He realizes that despite all his flaws and mistakes, he has the chance to make things right and become a better dog.
