The Timeless story of Macbeth, one of William Shakespeare's most provocative and intriguing stories hit theaters in late 2015, and was visually stunning. Directed by Justin Kurzel, with adaptive writing by Jacob Koskoff, Todd Louiso, and Michael Lesslie, this new version was both captivating, while maintaining the majority of original storyline. For those who have never seen Shakespeare's Macbeth, this film is a great gateway for understanding one of the most intricate story lines Shakespeare had ever written, as well as incorporating new elements to reach the newer generation of Shakespeare fans. If you have seen this classic, you most likely know one of the most coveted roles in Shakespeare for any actor is that of Macbeth. In this film, Macbeth is played by Michael Fassbender, who gave a jaw dropping performance, delivering grit, honesty, and charisma, but, Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth without a doubt stole the show. Cotillard brought strength, and compassion to the role and her talent, which has always been critically acclaimed, made for a noteworthy performance. The cinematography however, was incredible, transforming a story typically shown on stages into a alternate reality. Using visual aspects of war, the director, Justin Kurzel, takes you on a journey visually that will not be forgotten by me any time soon. Although this is a British-French-American adaptation, the story line stays adequately true to the original, and over all, was highly enjoyable.
