Addison is a 9-year-old coping with the death of his father in his own way. Shutting out the rest of the world, he refuses to speak to anyone and finds refuge hiding behind a blanket he has hung from his bedroom wall-a place where he develops a new and powerful voice that only he can hear. Can he really affect life around him from this secret command post? Has he unleashed some indefinable force?
Confronted with a mute child, who has taken trauma to a level she cannot understand, Addison's mother initially denies that her son's peculiar behavior is anything other than normal grief. But when his mother finally realizes that she is in jeopardy of losing her son forever, she fights with all her heart to bring him back from the unknown place where his mind has traveled.
In the spirit of Hitchcock and early Polanski, writer/director David Waingarten has creatively shot this suspenseful psychological drama in black and white, giving it a look that befits the imagination of a child who has isolated himself from the life around him. As Addison, Colton Lasater gives an endearing and sensitive performance of a child trying to deal with an unbearable hurt. It is a story of love, pain and healing that you will not soon forge
