Across the Hall is a thrilling suspense movie directed by Alex Merkin and released in 2009. The film stars Mike Vogel, Danny Pino, and the late Brittany Murphy in one of her last performances before her untimely death. It revolves around a young man named Terry who is desperately trying to convince his best friend, Julian, not to commit suicide in his hotel room across the hall.

The movie takes place in a run-down New York City hotel where Terry has been living for months, trying to get over his ex-girlfriend, June. He spends most of his days drinking at the hotel bar and pining over June. One night, while he is drinking, he sees a group of gangsters enter the hotel and head up to the room across the hall. Not long after, he hears gunshots and becomes convinced that Julian has been murdered.

Terry races across the hall to save his friend, but when he enters the room, he finds Julian alive and well. However, Julian is quite distressed and tells Terry that he has to leave, as he has just killed someone. Terry refuses to leave, and the rest of the movie unfolds inside the hotel room as Terry and Julian try to talk their way out of the dangerous situation they have found themselves in.

Throughout the movie, we learn more about the backstory of each character. Terry is a troubled young man who is struggling with alcoholism and depression. He is still deeply in love with June and has a hard time moving on from their relationship. Julian, on the other hand, is a successful businessman who has become involved with the wrong people. He owes money to a group of gangsters who have threatened to kill him if he doesn't pay his debt.

As the movie progresses, the tension continues to build, and it becomes clear that Terry and Julian are not alone in the hotel room. They are being watched by a number of characters who all have their own motivations and secrets. One of these characters is June, who has come to the hotel to confront Terry. Her arrival only complicates matters further, as Terry tries to convince her to leave, while Julian worries that she has been followed and will bring even more danger to their situation.

The movie is a classic example of a suspenseful thriller. The plot is tightly woven, and the audience is kept on the edge of their seats throughout. The performances by the three leads were all excellent, particularly Brittany Murphy, who gave a nuanced and layered performance as June. The direction and cinematography were also impressive, with the bleak and dingy hotel providing an appropriately dark backdrop for the story.

Overall, Across the Hall is a great example of a modern suspense film. Despite its low budget and relatively unknown cast, it packs a real punch and keeps audiences engaged from beginning to end. With a great script, strong performances, and a thoroughly engaging plot, this is a movie that is definitely worth watching.

Across the Hall is a 2008 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 33 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8.
