Aaja Nachle is a 2007 Bollywood movie starring the charismatic and enchanting actress Madhuri Dixit. This movie is a musical drama that tells the story of a New York-based choreographer, Dia (played by Madhuri Dixit), who comes back to her hometown in India when she learns that her guru and the owner of her dance school, Makarand, is dying. Makarand's last wish is for Dia to revive his dance school, Ajanta, which has been shut down for a long time.
When Dia comes back to her hometown, she discovers that the people in the town have forgotten about the art of Indian classical dance. Furthermore, the town's theater, which was once a vibrant cultural center, has now been turned into a shopping mall. Dia is determined to revive the dance school and the theater. She seeks the help of her childhood friend, Doctor Saab (played by Darshan Jariwala), who is now a local politician, but he refuses to help as he is more interested in building a new mall.
Dia then decides to convince the people of the town to help her by performing in the play that she plans to stage at the theater. She meets a bunch of eccentric and colorful characters, such as Anokhi (played by Kavita Lad), who runs a restaurant but dreams of becoming a singer, and Najma (played by Divya Dutta), a woman who wants to dance but is afraid to do so because of her weight.
Dia's journey to revive the dance school and the theater is filled with ups and downs, but she never loses her determination. She faces opposition from Doctor Saab and his goons, who burn down the sets of her play, but she still manages to stage the play with the help of the locals. The play is a success, and the people of the town rediscover their love for Indian classical dance.
