



The film A Requiem For Bobby Fischer is told from the perspective of the Yugoslavian people who helped him become a chess champion during the height of the Cold War. Fischer played against one of Russia's great chess champions. He was triumphant but only after understanding how much he still needed to learn. But those around him soon realized that his single-minded focus on chess caused him to be blind to the politics that swirled around him. And later in his life he paid for that blindness.
