Leo Shepherd is a successful writer living in a rural area of France, when he is awarded the Nobel Prize he sets off on a motorcycle trip to Sweden to claim his accolade. Leo's protective daughter, Virginie, refuses to let his estranged son, Paul, speak to their father prompting Paul to set out to find Leo on his journey to Sweden. After Leo is involved in an motorcycle accident, Paul takes advantage of the situation and kidnaps him in a last ditch bid to form a bond and rekindle their relationship.
