A Hard Day is a 2014 South Korean action-thriller film directed by Kim Seong-hun. The movie tells the story of Go Gun-su, a corrupt detective who accidentally kills a man with his car and attempts to cover it up by hiding the body in his mother's coffin. Unfortunately for him, things don't go as planned, and he finds himself in a series of escalating situations that threaten to expose his crime.

The film starts off with a tense and dramatic scene in which detective Go Gun-su is shown attending his mother's funeral. While on his way to the burial site, he gets a call from his colleagues, who urge him to come to the police station as they need his help in an important case. Reluctantly, Go decides to take a shortcut through a tunnel, only to hit a man who steps out in front of his car. Disoriented and shocked, Go tries to call for help, but when he realizes that the man he hit is carrying drugs, he decides to hide the body in his mother's coffin.

As soon as the funeral is over, Go is called back to the police station, where he is immediately tasked with leading a team of officers to investigate a case involving an organized crime syndicate. As the investigation progresses, the tension and the stakes rise, and Go is forced to engage in a series of high-stakes and dangerous situations to cover up his crime, all while trying to evade suspicion from his colleagues.

One of the most striking aspects of A Hard Day is the way it blends genres. The film is part crime thriller, part black comedy, and part horror movie, with elements of tension, suspense, and gore all mixed together in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The film's blend of genres is further enhanced by the excellent performances of the actors, who manage to balance the dark humor and the grisly violence with a sense of realism and gravitas.

Another standout feature of A Hard Day is the way it showcases the grit and desperation of the main character Go Gun-su. Despite being a corrupt and morally ambiguous detective, Go is a character that you can't help but root for as the movie progresses. His struggles and challenges are so intense and harrowing that you can't help but empathize with him, even as he makes questionable and morally ambiguous choices.

The film's pacing is also worth noting. The story moves at a breakneck speed, with the tension ratcheting up with each passing minute. The film's use of time and space is also expertly done, with the claustrophobic tunnel sequence and the hauntingly empty corridors of the funeral home adding to the film's overall sense of dread and unease.

Overall, A Hard Day is a well-crafted and expertly executed crime thriller that showcases the best of South Korean cinema. With excellent performances, a relentlessly tense plot, and a perfect blend of genres, the film is a must-see for fans of action-thrillers, horror movies, and black comedies alike.

A Hard Day is a 2015 crime movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 51 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.2 and a MetaScore of 76.
