In A Castle for Christmas, Brooke Shields plays the role of Sophie Brown, a successful American author of romance novels who has lost her inspiration and is facing a writer's block. In order to find her motivation and spark, she decides to go on a trip to Scotland and visits the castle of Craigievar, which she inherited from her deceased grandfather.

The castle is in a state of disrepair, and Sophie decides to renovate it despite the resistance of the locals, who believe that the castle should be preserved in its original state. Sophie enlists the help of local contractor, Duncan, played by Lee Ross, and begins the tedious process of restoring the castle into a beautiful masterpiece that would be suitable for her.
