The movie begins with Marci, a successful advertising executive attending her high school reunion where she encounters her former classmate, Blair. Well aware of Marci's struggle with infertility, Blair reveals her plans of giving her baby up for adoption. Without much hesitation, Marci sees this as an opportunity to fulfill her long-held dream and offers to adopt Blair's baby.

Meanwhile, Gina, a young woman who has been in and out of foster homes since childhood, dreams of having a family of her own.
