The title is a reference to Fellini’s career as a director. He refers to the number of films he had directed at the time this movie was being made.

Mastroianni stars as Guido Anselmi a famous Italian director. Anselmi is suffering from director’s block. He is also troubled by martial difficulties and a loss of interest in the current film he is working on. Fellini uses a series of flashbacks and fantasies to tell the story. This is a classic Fellini film.
