The movie revolves around the life of Tessa, a young nurse hailing from Kottayam. Tessa is a headstrong independent woman who moves to Bangalore for a job after completing her nursing degree. There she meets Cyril, a charming young man who works as a consultant for a pharmaceutical company.
Tessa falls in love with Cyril, and they start living together. However, their relationship faces many challenges as Cyril turns out to be a cheat and a liar who is already married with a child.
Tessa gets pregnant, but her happiness is short-lived when she finds out that Cyril has AIDS and also infected her with the virus. Devastated by this revelation, Tessa decides to leave Cyril and moves back to Kottayam to start afresh.
However, life is not easy for Tessa in Kottayam as she faces rejection from her family and society due to her HIV positive status. She finds solace in Roy, a young man who provides emotional support to her. Together they start a small catering business, which becomes quite successful.
One day, Cyril comes back into Tessa's life and begs for her forgiveness. He claims that he was forced into marriage by his parents, and that he loves Tessa and their child. The rest of the movie revolves around Tessa's journey as she tries to find a balance between her past and present.
The movie is a powerful portrayal of the struggles faced by women in a patriarchal society. It deals with issues like gender inequality, sexual harassment, and social stigmatization of HIV positive people. The movie also highlights the need for comprehensive sex education and awareness about AIDS.
Rima Kallingal has given an exceptional performance as Tessa, portraying the character's emotions with utmost depth and intensity. Fahadh Faasil also gives a stellar performance as Cyril, portraying a complex character with shades of grey.
The music of the movie composed by Rex Vijayan is soulful and adds to the emotional impact of the narrative. The cinematography by Shyju Khalid is brilliant, capturing the beauty of Kottayam while also highlighting the harsh realities of life.
