21 and Over is an American comedy film directed and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. This film is the directorial debut of both directors, and the men were awarded the Directors to Watch Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. In the film, Jeff Chang (Justin Choon) is preparing to take a medical school exam. To Chang, this is the most important exam of his life. In fact, the outcome of this exam could affect his entire life. Coincidentally, the eve of the exam is also his 21st birthday. He recognizes that many 21-year-olds celebrate this historic rite of passage by getting drunk and partying all night. However, for Chang, this is not an option. To ensure that nothing goes wrong on test day, Chang decides to stay home, by himself, on his birthday.
Chang's plan to stay in on his monumental birthday is challenged when his two childhood best friends, Miller (Miles Teller) and Casey (Skylar Astin), show up unannounced. When Miller and Casey learn of Chang's plan to stay in and ignore his 21st birthday, they are not happy.
To please his friends, who drove a long way to see him, Chang agrees to go out and enjoy one beer with his friends. However, he warns them that he is only agreeing to one beer, and then he is returning home to prepare for his test.
Unfortunately, for Chang, what was supposed to be one innocent beer turns into many. In fact, the night turns into drunken debauchery for Chang and his lifelong friends. While Chang may have forgotten about his test while he was drinking, his friends did not. Since they know how critical the test is to Chang's future, Miller and Casey do everything they can to get Chang to the test on time.
