13 Beloved is a psychological thriller that was released in 2006. The movie is directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul and stars Krissada Sukosol, Achita Sikamana, and Sarunyu Wongkrachang. The film tells the story of a struggling salesman named Puchit who receives a mysterious phone call with an invitation to play a game that offers the chance to win a large sum of money. As the game progresses, Puchit is increasingly forced to do increasingly extreme tasks, leading him to confront his own morality.
The movie starts off with a scene showing Puchit in his car, on the verge of losing his job after failing to make a sale. He then receives a phone call inviting him to a game show that requires him to complete 13 tasks, with each task getting progressively harder. The voice on the other end of the line tells Puchit that he can win a cash prize of 10 million baht if he completes all the tasks. Desperately needing the money, Puchit agrees to play.
The first couple of tasks seem relatively harmless and amusing, such as swatting flies and eating a cockroach. However, the tasks then start becoming increasingly dangerous and morally questionable. Puchit is told to steal a woman's underwear, humiliate himself in public, and even carry out a hit and run accident, all for money. The voice on the phone assures him that everything is legal and that he will not be held responsible for any criminal activities.
As the game progresses, Puchit becomes more and more fixated on winning the prize money. However, he soon discovers that the game has sinister motives, and his actions have led to dire consequences for those around him. He realizes that the game is not just about winning the prize money but is also designed to test his limits and push him to the brink of insanity.
Krissada Sukosol, who plays Puchit, delivers an excellent performance throughout the movie, showcasing his character's transformation from an ordinary, struggling salesman to a desperate man. Achita Sikamana and Sarunyu Wongkrachang, who play Puchit's girlfriend and boss, respectively, provide solid supporting performances.
The film's cinematography and editing are done well, with some scenes being particularly intense and gut-wrenching. There are also several twists and turns that keep the audience guessing until the very end, culminating in a thrilling climax.
Overall, 13 Beloved is an excellent psychological thriller that grips the audience from start to finish. The premise of the movie is interesting, and the execution is impressive. The movie forces viewers to question their own morality and the lengths they would go to for money. Despite being a Thai movie, the themes and emotions portrayed in it are universal and can be appreciated by international audiences.
