Apple TV+ is a subscription video streaming service launched by Apple in November 2019. The service is Apple's first foray into original video content. At launch, the service offered only original content produced exclusively for Apple TV+. Series and movie offerings included projects featuring big-name stars and filmmakers, including Jennifer Aniston, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and Jason Momoa.
Initially, Apple hoped that the service would depend entirely on original content. However, slow subscriber growth led the company to begin looking for opportunities to license existing content from other producers. As of June 2020, the service was still limited to a relatively small catalog of original programming.
Apple TV+ can be viewed on Apple computers, Apple mobile devices, Roku, some smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV. Apple TV+ offers no native applications that allow viewers to watch on Android devices, Chromecast, or Windows computers.
