The LXD stands for The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers and was a television show that aired from 2010 to 2011. The plot is based on two groups of rival dancers commonly called the villains and the heroes of the show. The Alliance of the Dark are considered the villains while the The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers are considered the heroes of The LXD. The heroes find out that they have superpowers when they dance which is called The Ra. The setting of The LXD is set over centuries from the 1920's to 3000.
The LXD was produced, directed and created by Jon M. Chu. Jon says that what gave him the idea for this show was two of Michael Jackson's songs and videos, The Thriller and Smooth Criminal. He was also inspired by the dancers from one of the movies he filmed, Step Up 2: The Streets. The choreographers of The LXD were Christopher Scott, Harry Shum, Jr, and Galen Hooks.
The LXD contained many different types of dance including krumping, hip hop, contemporary, popping, tricking, b-boying, tap, jazz, and ballet. A great thing about The LXD is that all of the dancing and stunts were completely real with no use of special effects. The whole show was also filmed without any green screens. Last but not least, The LXD gave 50% of its profits from their official t-shirts to a special non profit organization called Invisible Children, Inc. This organization is The LXD's main sponsor and helped through every step of the day.
