Telemundo is a Spanish language American network offering a wide variety of programming geared toward Hispanic and Latino Americans. Owned by NBCUniversal Television Group, viewers can enjoy sports, reality television, films (including Spanish-dubbed American movies), news broadcasting, and telenovelas.
Through NBC Universo, Telemundo also offers cable and satellite programming targeted toward young Hispanic Americans. They also operate telemundo.com, Telemundo Digital Media, mun2.tv, and WKAQ-TV. This combined audience makes Telemundo the second largest provider of Spanish-language content in the world. Its headquarters is located in Miami and provides thousands of jobs. In addition, most of their programming and 85% of their telenovelas where filmed in the Miami area.
Telemundo programming offers something for everyone. They offer prime time programming which includes reality television, crime shows and evening news. Also broadcast, is a morning news and lifestyle program, an afternoon newsmagazine series, and Sunday morning talk show. For sports enthusiasts, there are football and boxing matches, three weekly sports broadcasts, a weekend spots and lifestyle show, and sports wrap-up program. Young viewers can enjoy a weekend kids block with Spanish-dubbed versions of series by sister network, Sprout.
Telemundo does offer English closed captioning during weekday primetime programming. They were the first Spanish-language network in the United States to incorporate this.
