Rooster Teeth is one of the fastest growing production companies to capitalize on the expanding market for what can be described as 'video game comedy'. Based out of Austin, TX, Rooster Teeth specializes in machinima (media produced using a video game engine) as well as in-house animated productions in the form of webcomics and anime.
The animated web-series "RWBY" was created by animator Monty Oum and presents the world of Remnant, where four girls are training in the last stronghold, Vale, to become Huntresses and fight the encroaching "Creatures of Grimm". Each girl has their own unique weapon and powers, and the story begins with their training at Beacon Academy.
Their most famous production is "Red Vs Blue", a parody sci-fi machinima series created using the Halo engine that depicts two groups of soldiers fighting a civil war in an isolated canyon. Spanning 12 seasons, the critically acclaimed series comments on topics ranging from military hierarchy to video game logic, and is among the longest running web series ever.
Rooster Teeth also produces a number of unscripted series. "A Simple Walk Into Mordor" details the journey of two employees as they travel from the set of Hobbiton to Mount Doom in New Zealand. Employing similar concepts as reality television, "Social Disorder" pits two competitors against each other in awkward social situations while attempting to recruit participation from bystanders, performing such tasks as dragging around a body bag.
