NIS America is the American subsidiary of Nippon Ichi Software, a Japanese game developer. They originally focused on bringing localized versions of their parent company's video games to the United States. Recently they have begun to publish and distribute anime series, often with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles.
NIS America, in conjunction with animation studios, produces some original content. It is primarily fantasy anime based on their video game titles such as Makai Senki Disgaea. Many other projects based on their other franchises are currently in consideration.
The bulk of NIS America's line-up consists of licensed content developed by other studios and publishers. They provide localization to increase the clarity of the subtitles for western audiences. NIS America also handles the marketing and distribution for their titles.
NIS America provides a broad catalog of shows that covers many different genres with a primary focus on slice of life anime. They offer supernatural mystery titles like Occult Academy, Persona: Trinity Soul, and Umineko: When They Cry. Their slice of life shows include titles such as Love Live!, YuruYuri, Kimi no Todoke, Working!!, and Daily Lives of High School Boys.
They offer the shows online and through video on demand services through major cable providers. NIS America also sells DVD box sets of all of their titles.
