NBCUniversal Media is an American entertainment and media company that produces informational shows, news, entertainment, and other broadcast programming. NBCUniversal streams their channels to a global viewer base which makes them one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world.
NBCUniversal owns a huge amount of channels distributed over several providers including many cable channels, American Networks, local stations, motion pictures, production companies, and a couple of theme parks. It is the largest company in the world when it comes to media and entertainment.
NBCUniversal was founded in 2004, after the merger of General Electric and Vivendi Universal Entertainment. After the merger took place, Comcast announced the intention of buying an ownership stake in NBCUniversal which was finalized in 2009. Comcast owned 51% of NBCUniversal while GE owned 49% until 2011 when a deal was finally agreed upon that gave Comcast 100% ownership of the company. Comcast then followed up by changing the design of the logo to represent the new ownership.
NBC is most famous for its Universal Studios and the theme parks its known for, in addition to all the late night programming shows that host celebrities and famous athletes to discuss their future plans. The amount of viewers to watch Late Night shows every single night of the week can be added up to surpass the amount of Superbowl viewers simply by calculating the total amount resulted by each programming.
The NBC empire has grown very large to the point of the company having to spread out offices all over the world.
