King Record Company Limited is a Japanese company that produces and releases music in several formats. King Record Company Limited was founded in 1931 as a division of the publishing giant Kodansha Limited. The company started operating on it's own in 1951, but remained part of the publisher Otowa Group. They have their head quarters in Tokyo, with other offices across the world. They are also the leading anima label called Starchild. They have expanded their repertoire to include production of feature films. The company recently celebrated its eightieth anniversary in 2011 by looking for partners to bring more music and films to the Japanese market.
King Record Company Limited has several labels they publish under. Starchild is their most notable one that specializes in anime films and music. That label is managed by Toshimichi ?tsuki. They also distribute Up-Front Works. Piccolo Town, Rice Music, You! Be Cool, and Venus-B are all labels they publish under. Evil Line records is their newest division that was started in 2014. They have the famous Momoiro Clover Z, a girl idol group that puts on energetic shows. Some of the other wonderful, diverse artists that are included under the umbrella of King Record Company Limited are: Miho Nakayama, an awarded singer and actress, Theatre Brook, a Japanese punk rock band, and David Silverman, who is best known for animating The Simpsons.
