Gong is an Internet Protocol Television channel that focuses on anime, popular music, live-action drama, and games. It is the first international anime network, covering all of Europe and North America, or a total of 42 countries, and is available both online and through a mobile app. Additionally, it appears live on French television channel 63 as a 24/7 Pay TV Station. Its targeted age demographic is 15-25 years old, or young adults, but the actual range of ages that watches the channel is much wider, with viewers ranging in age from their early teens to their mid thirties.
The anime displayed on the channel is very high in visual quality. It varies widely in style and genre, and includes Paranoia Agent, a relatively short series from acclaimed director Sitoshi Kon that explores unreliable narrators and subjective reality with perfectly plotted story and stunning visuals, and Samurai Champloo, the popular anime that combines traditional Japanese story elements and characters with modern hip-hop culture. It currently distributes over 1,000 episodes through various streaming services.
The music available is largely K-pop, or Korean pop, a musical genre which contains many different sub-types of music, ranging from techno and metal to pop ballads and R&B. The live-action drama and online gaming content includes features from both Japan and South Korea. Gong also works through multiple partners to provide access to downloads like high-quality wallpaper images, video clips, and sound files.
