Gestion Pour Rire is a film channel dedicated to documentaries about professional sports. The media company began distributing media in Tokyo, Japan in 2001. It is based in Japan still but now has operations in over 12 countries worldwide. Its content has been translated into over 30 languages and viewers can access it via cable packages or online in streaming or downloadable form for a monthly fee on their phones or computers. The channel began when the producer named Harry Chong was in Tokyo for a media event. He was interviewed on the nature of his future projects and realized that he wasn't fulfilled. He decided to write a screenplay for a new film and then he raised financing to hire actors and a full production crew. The first film, Shanghai Moon, was a large success.
Now, the company has expanded to include many more genres of films including comedy, drama, and even surrealism. Current titles on the channel include Snow Mountain and Dark Horse. Snow Mountain is about Chase Jarvis, a young photographer who travels to Steamboat, Colorado in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional photographer. He doesn't know it yet, but a film crew has been following him around since his beginnings and they are about to expose his process to the entire world. Dark Horse is about a ski racer who wants nothing more than to be the best ski champion in the world. She competes with others in a grueling competition over three days.
