The company was originally founded by producer Gerhard Hahn in 1980, the company is known for high standard, modern animation films and television programs. The company has maintained continuous production despite several significant changes is animations technology and is one of the only major animation studios in Europe to survive the switch from traditional paper and pencil 2D to Common Gateway Interface technology or CGI. Han has produced a number of top selling movies including Werner - Beinhart and Asterix in America, as well as several Internationally acclaimed television series including Gnarfs, Benjamin Blümchen, Urmel, Wildlife, Renaade, Simsalagrimm, and Bibi Blocksberg.
