Discovery Digital Networks is the parent company of five digital cable and Internet television infotainment providers. It is owned by Discovery Communications and is the creator, producer and distributor for much of the content shown on its subsidiaries. Each of its networks operate in a different niche market that has its own viewer base.
Revision3 is a consumer review and miscellaneous network that was launched independently in 2005. Many of their hosts have a reputation for being trustworthy when offering buying advise to their viewers. The network hosts a variety of technology and gaming shows as well as DIY, political, comedic and movie related programs. They were the first acquisition by Discovery in 2012 and maintained their own identity until the formation of DDN. Rev3Games operates as a separate network with them that has content about video games.
TestTube is the documentary and education network set up to appeal to fans of the Discovery Channel. It is known for some of its short programs How Stuff Works and Hard Science. Animalist works in much the same way for fans of Discovery’s Animal Planet. They also offer helpful content aimed at pet owners.
The DeFranco Networks operate two separate channels under DDN. SourceFed offers a daily comedy and pop-news program, while For Human Peoples has unique material in an uplifting vein. The channels formerly operated under the name DeFranco Creative until DDN purchased the company in 2013. The former owner, Philip DeFranco, now operates them as a Senior VP.
