Crackle is a free video streaming channel available on a number of platforms including the Roku, Playstation and Sony blu-ray players. There is also an app available for iOS and Android devices. Crackle is owned by Sony and allows viewers to watch a number of films produced by Sony or its affiliated studios as well as television shows they released and ones provided by content providers they have partnered with. It offers a wide range of viewing options with movies from a number of genres including comedy, drama, action, horror and documentaries. Television shows are just as varied with an eclectic mix of live action, foreign and animated shows. The library of content is updated monthly and some titles are removed while new ones are added.
In addition to its large selection of past movies and TV shows, there are also a number of original series and movies that are only available on Crackle. The first shows consisted of five to ten minute episodes, but later Crackle branched out to make shows with full twenty-two minute episodes. These shows include Chosen, an action series about a man coerced to play a deadly game, Sequestered, a show following a sequestered jury as they argue the verdict on a murder trial, and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, in which Jerry Seinfeld takes comedians out for coffee in a different car each episode. Crackle has also released several original movies.
