Chukyo Television (abbreviated as Chukyo TV), is a Japanese television station under the Nippon News Network (NNN) umbrella of companies. Chukyo has a long history of being in the media business as it was founded in 1969.
Chukyo originally offered only analog t.v. channels such as Nagoya, Gifu-Nagara, Takayama, Ise, Toba, and many more. It still offers analog, however it has expanded to include better offerings for the digital age. The digital channels under Chukyo are: Chuno, Toyohashi, and Nabari, among others.
In the past, Chukyo gained notoreity for its numerous critically acclaimed and award winning programs such as Goji Satur (featuring Japanese rock and roll music), Vivian (a variety show targeted toward women), Radio de Gomen (a radio program that aired late at night), Sarudie (a late night quiz show), and Owarai Manga Dojo (a variety show about Japanese cartoons), to name just a few.
Currently, the shows running include: PS (an information channel about restaurants), And U (a show for trendy young ladies), and SAKAE TARO (a variety show). In general, the channel focuses on variety shows and unique demographics that other channels don't often cater to. This has led to somewhat niche programs that, while lacking a larger audience than some other Japanese channels, has led to a dedicated fan base.
Apart from Japanese companies, Chukyo also has a number of international partners such as BTV in China, Canal 13 in Canada, SBS in South Korea, Rede Record in Brazil, HTV in Vietnam, and Deutsche Welle in Germany.
