The CBS Sports Network is a digital cable and satellite television network that offers sports news and sporting events programming. CBS branded the network in 2005, and placed the network in a position to compete against ESPN, Fox Sports One, and the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). CBS Sports Network offers a variety of talk shows and live collegiate sporting events. Of note, the network offers talk shows including Rome, NFL Monday QB, That Other Pre-Game Show, The Doug Gottlieb Show, We Need to Talk, and Inside College Football and Basketball. Nationally syndicated radio host Jim Rome signed on with CBS in 2012 after leaving ESPN. The CBS Sports Network has added former quarterback Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton to their morning programming. Rome, Esiason, Carton, and Gottlieb provide their perspectives on the NFL, college sports, sports icons, and the latest daily headlines.
The majority of the college action covered on the CBS Sports Network comes from the lower tiered conferences such as the American Athletic Conference, Atlantic Ten, Colonial Athletic, Conference USA, Horizon, and Metro Atlantic Athletic. The National Football League (NFL) contest results are covered the next day on NFL Monday QB. Former NFL quarterbacks Phil Simms, Steve Beuerlein, and Rich Gannon banter back and forth on what teams did well and their opportunities to improve. A recent add to the network is a first ever all female national weekly sports show. Titled, “We Need to Talk”, the broadcast has a number of journalists and former athletes that speak to current events in the sporting world.
