'The World According to Paris' Bombs: Is Paris Hilton Done?
by Andy NeuenschwanderParis who?
The Oxygen network premiered Paris Hilton's new reality show "The World According to Paris" on Wednesday, and let's just say we won't be re-crowning Hilton the queen of reality TV anytime soon. The show drew in an abysmal 409,000 viewers, a low number even by the standards of a lesser-known cable channel like Oxygen.
Just how low is that number? By comparison, Paris' old show, "The Simple Life," premiered on Fox back in 2003 to 13 miilion viewers. Of course, that's a network airing, so that's not entirely fair. But even when "The Simple Life" moved to cable channel E! for season four, it premiere to a healthy (by cable's standards) 1.3 million.
Not only is Wednesday's 409,000-viewer premiere only about one-third of that former 1.3 million draw, but "The World According to Paris" ranked lower in the cable ratings on Wednesday than a re-run of "Everybody Hates Chris" on Nick at Nite. In fact, the premiere didn't even rank in the top 100.
So does this mean that Paris Hilton is done? It used to be that you couldn't turn around without Paris being there, but now that ubiquity belongs to the Kardashians. At this point, you have to wonder what Paris could possibly do to recover her TV fame...I doubt another sex tape would work.
Did you watch the premiere of "The World According to Paris?" Are you at all interested in the famous Hilton girl anymore?
