MTV Video Music Awards: 3 Things to Look For (Including 'The Hunger Games!')

MTV Video Music Awards: 3 Things to Look For (Including 'The Hunger Games!') The "MTV Video Music Awards" are coming up this Sunday night, and while the focus of the night will be all theĀ amazing performers set to take the stage, there are always plenty of other events that end up stealing some spotlight. Of course, we can't predict them all (like Kanye's famous interruption), but here's a few things you should keep an eye out for during the big event.

1. First Look at 'The Hunger Games'

Apparently Jennifer Lawrence will be at the VMAs, and she's going to have a big announcement to make. Word is that Lawrence will be introducing a clip that will air during the show, and that clip will be the first footage from her upcoming film "The Hunger Games."

For those of you who are out of the loop, "The Hunger Games" is the next big young adult book adaptation, and is shaping up to be the next "Harry Potter" or "Twilight," with a series of four movies set for release. For those of you who already know about it, you're probably pretty excited to see that first-look trailer, aren't you?

2. The Amy Winehouse Tribute

Like her or not, there's not denying that Amy Winehouse was a tremendous talent, and one that will be missed any time musicians gather together. This year, a number of artists will be paying tribute to Winehouse, including Tony Bennett, who recorded a duet with the late singer before she passed away. Bennett will reportedly lead the tribute.

3. Who's the host?

We've seen a lot of great hosts in VMA history, including Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, and the duo of Bette Midler and Dan Akroyd. Lately, we've seen some not-yet-stars get a bit of a publicity boost as Chelsea Handler and Russell Brand took the stage. But this year, the VMAs have a very special host.

Nobody.

Yep, the show is host-less this year. You would think that the show would devolve into chaos without a host...and you'd be right. This isn't the first time the show went on without a host, as the 2007 awards tried the same thing. Remember that one? It started out with Britney doing her awful performance of "Gimme More" and gave us the famous altercation between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. Watch out for more shenanigans this year with no host to hold things together.
